secretarybirdgirl:

we saw a history of photography exhibit at the ghetty museum and there were a good handful of pictures that were just photos these famous men had taken of women in states of undress, usually accompanied by a blurb on the wall of how “daring” and “provocative” the images were at the time. one had a quote by a model reminiscing how a particular photographer would create a space that would allow you to be comfortable nude. it was hard to tell through context if this was meant to be a positive or a negative. all the while blurbs detailed how revolutionary this was/is.

at a bookstore there was a book on display, a photo album of naked women by david lynch that had been published just last month, titled “Nudes”.

a large “draw” is that many of the pictures within had never before been published. imagine, a collection of faceless women you have not seen naked before! a quote in the description:

“I like to photograph naked women. The infinite variety of the human body is fascinating: it is amazing and magic to see how different women are.” – David Lynch

is this not something to be disgusted by? where is the art? lynch enjoys taking photos of women undressed. so did hugh hefner. am i supposed to feel appreciated? anything other than uncomfortable?

it’s really disturbing how praised men were and are for having women pose nude in front of a camera for them. art is a sham and men should be barred from it.
