The new edition of Elaine May’s “Mikey and Nicky” (1976) was just announced by The Criterion Collection, and I was fortunate to be asked to illustrate the cover. The design was a collaborative effort between myself and art director Eric Skillman, with input from Elaine May herself.
This film was grossly under-appreciated at the time and in history, and I am proud to participate in it’s getting due attention, along with Elaine May herself who has always and will always deserve more attention and status as an artist and figure in American film.
